We made it!

We have reached the one year mark and here we are embracing a brand new fiscal year!

Let's skip the chit chat and take a look at what we have achieved over the last 365 days!

☆ In one year we raised 7890 dollars! This money went directly onto the streets of our vulnerable community!

☆ We have provided assistance to 192 homeless individuals within greater Sudbury.

☆ In early 2021 we developed a partnership with Public Health Sudbury and Districts.

☆ Our team has provided over 1000 clean supply kits to illicit substance users, who are at risk during the closure of all of our other resources.

☆ We have served over 35,000 meals during the night.

☆ Our volunteers have responded to over 20 overdoses between the hours of 9:00pm and 2:00am.

☆ With help, we have housed 7 clients.

☆ Our volunteers have responded to 37 calls outside of our regular outreach hours, through our urgent call response hotline.

☆ By August 2021 we had established our working relationships with Greater Sudbury's Bylaw Officer's.

This last year has been incredible we have achieved so much!

We look forward to the growth and development that future funding opportunities will bring us.

While we continue to learn and grow with our vulnerable community members- we remain committed to our direct client first approach.

A big thank you to everyone who has shown their kindness and to those who have supported us along this journey, together we have demonstrated that together we CAN make a difference.

We appreciate you all!

A big thank you to Iain De Jong at OrgCode Consulting for meeting with our Operations Manager, Evie Ali.

Iain helped develop the City of Greater Sudbury's encampment strategy– to help address the increased number of encampments in Memorial Park.

Today Iain and Evie discussed The Go-Give Project and our Mobile Outreach program.

Iain was able to provide a great overview of the steps necessary to achieve growth within our organization and how to expand our services.

This was an excellent opportunity to get a second opinion surrounding our key activities and we are very satisfied with the outcomes.

We would also like to send a big thank you to everyone who has supported us on this journey, you have all demonstrated that together we CAN make a difference!

We appreciate you!

The Go-Give Team.

Today, courtesy of our friend Dan Quinn, members of our team had the opportunity to sit down and discuss our organization with a number of churches within our community.

This gave us a chance to learn how we can all better work together to assist our vulnerable populations.

We are so grateful for all of the amazing connections and people who make our team whole!

Together we really DO make a difference!

Thank you!

Last night our team attended 2 consecutive overdoses.

Thanks to EMS, and GSP both individuals received the urgent assistance they needed in a gentle and compassionate manner.

We also want to acknowledge the dispatch officers who took our calls— your job is not easy, we see you and appreciate you.

So often times, we forget that those in uniforms are not much different from you and I.

We are so grateful that we had the chance to encounter such wonderful people, despite the unfortunate circumstances.

You are all amazing, thank you so much!

SEPTEMBER 3RD 2021

When we first started we asked ourselves what are our biggest obstacles and how can we help them, if we can't solve them?

What can we do, without duplicating services- to better our community?

Of course one of the most notable scenarios were the incredible overdose rates here, on our very own streets!

Just before we initiated our Needle Exchange Program we began our Naloxone distribution in partnership with Public Health Sudbury and District.

Naloxone is a potentially life saving drug that can temporarily reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.

It is our goal to see that our high risk population was ready, equipped and trained with Naloxone at all times.

To date out team have responded to a total of 23 overdoses (since November 2020) and we have distributed hundreds of Naloxone Kits.

With the recent improvements we have made to our routes, we are committed to reaching more and more individuals as we grow.

We wish to give a warm thank you to everyone who has supported our journey, we are truly blessed to be able to provide such great supports and we could not have done this with out you!

JULY 1ST, 2021

Here we are, blessed to see another month.
As you know we like to take the beginning of each month to reflect on our previous months activities, progress and ways we can improve.

Let's take a look at what went on!
♡ Meals Distributed: 3208
♡ Naloxone Kits Distributed: 68
♡ Safe Use Supplies Distributed: 127
♡ Overdoses: 2
♡ Fatal Overdoses: 0
♡ Urgent Calls: 6
♡ New friends 6
Throughout the month our team, our clients and our community partners have faced many great obstacles and barriers within our vulnerable community.
However, it is with great compassion and strength that each one has been able to continue to push through, speak up and remain strong.
As the Go-Give team remains committed to providing respite to our vulnerable community members, we wish to thank all those involved in providing a safe space and a voice to our people.
We see you, and we appreciate you.

A BIG THANK YOU - to Caitlin!

Her donations included:

☆15 cases of water

☆94 individual meals

We can not begin to express our gratitude!

On behalf of out team and clients - Thank you Caitlin!

JUNE 30TH, 2021

Today our clients are in the process of being removed from Memorial Park.
While our team can understand the risks and tensions that had been building up, in such a highly populated place - we knew we could not ask them to leave with out an alternative location.
That being said our team reached out the City of Greater Sudbury - to seek more information as to what can be done.
At this time The City of Greater Sudbury has graced us with the following response:
" Under a Housing focused policy, the City is encouraging people who are experiencing homelessness to access the indoor shelter and warming centre services available (there continues to be available shelter beds every night), and to connect with the community supports available to assist in accessing housing. The City will not be setting up or supporting a site where people can remain unsheltered outdoors. The park continues to be available for use by everyone during the day."
As of today the YMCA warming center is now closed.
We are left with the Off The Street Shelter which currently houses 35 beds.
SACY has 6 youth beds.
Cedar Place Womens and Family Shelter is a high barrier shelter that collects mandatory financial information while requiring the client client be actively looking for housing. Additional services are subject to small fees from the client - Many find this difficult to access.
The Samaritan Center has posed similar barriers and obstacles for our indigenous clients.
The Go-Give Registry contains 161 Clients to date.
The Sudbury Star has also quoted:
"Over night shelter services see a decrease in clients during the summer, and there is currently adequate available shelter space to accommodate residents who may require these services."
We don't have answers yet. We still haven't concluded any real solutions.
We do know that action must be taken.
These decisions and calls are being made by individuals who have likely - not stepped out of their offices.
By those who do not engage with our vulnerable population.
Essentially by those ignorant to the first hand issues that we are dealing with.
Our team is tired but, our clients more so.
We need to stand up, stand together and most importantly we need to educate the people in power.
We are dealing with human lives. Human spirits.
We must change the way we think as a community.
We appreciate all of your kindess and support through this endeavor. We truly could not have made it this far with out you!
Thank you!
The Go Give Team!
